The taping for The Today Show started around 9am last Wednesday with Julie & Eric being interviewed for the segment. From there, I wanted to warm them up so we started with some basic poses inside of a paintball bunker!
From there, Julie & Eric had mentioned Mr & Mrs Smith during the planning, so we launched into a Mr + Mrs look with paintball guns …
I had the grand idea to have Julie throw paintballs in the air. She is just the perfect poser, even while throwing paint balls in the air!
The next concept was to go into the actual painting. Since I had ruled out actual paintball shooting as “not gonna happen – too painful” I used a paintball grenade first to get the party started.

Grenade splatter. Talk about Trashing the Photographer! Luckily, I had worn blue 
The actual painting part was supposed to be playful and intimate. Julie & Eric have some amazing chemistry and I wanted to bring that out.
I told Julie that she should paint a mustache on Eric, but we didn’t tell Eric about it. I thought he was going to flinch and jump away, but he was a great sport – especially since he didn’t know it was coming!
I absolutely adore shooting Julie + Eric. It’s always a fun (and always cloudy/raining) time I’m running out of reasons to shoot them again. Does anyone have additional reasons to get them in front of my camera again?!
