Stephanie & Josh picked the city, but I got to pick the frolic location. I’ve got a new fascination with the city of Fort Worth and all of the little incredible niches that it offers so when they suggested shooting there – I had the perfect new location to try out. Stephanie & Joshua are undeniably wonderful together and it was amazing opportunity to get to know them better before their December wedding.
Stephanie has a very natural grace.

Lauren and Chris booked me for their 2011 wedding back in 2009. Let’s read that again. 2011 wedding booked in 2009. And yet when we were sitting there talking about details and colors they already had mock-ups of invitations, paperie, you name it. “We love to travel so we are doing a travel theme,” Lauren explained.
So you can imagine there was a little lull until they were ready for engagements and I was pleased as punch when I got the email from Lauren saying she was ready to shoot. But where?
OOOO I had an idea that fit them perfectly …
It’s not a party without Gypsy.
Liz suggested we shoot her & Frank’s engagements on SMU’s campus, where they met. Vivian and I were eager to hear some good stories of their adventures on campus and we were not disappointed. Let me just say, that ‘LOL’ does not cover it. At all.
As per usual, we were meeting the groom for the first time, and Frank was warm right off the bat. As we continued to shoot, he really opened up and started laughing with us. I mean, how can you not when you have the Lynn/Viv/Liz giggling fest going on? Resistance is futile!
Both Liz & Frank have these real, amazingly happy smiles that are addicting. I was definitely smiling along. Yes, there I am behind the camera, grinning like a big dork.
Then Winnie arrived. And she stole the show.

I just had to include this one. They were just having so much fun and Liz told me afterwards that this is so uniquely them!
Anna and Courts are getting married in late October and they are sure to give me a wedding full of gloriously beautiful eye candy. Courts is a photographer himself and there is no greater honor than to be booked by one of your peers. Some photographers are light chasers while others are light makers. Courts and I fall squarely into both categories and we could bore the pants off anyone talking about lighting, which I just adore. Anna starts quiet, but has this softly sarcastic personality that just makes you spin your face around and ask “did you just say that?!” Yes she did. And it’s always HILARIOUS. Anna definitely carries herself with grace and the vintage vibe that she brings with her is just so … Anna.
Courts broke his glasses during the session. Sadness.
I brought along my vintage Brownie camera for some fun shots, but obviously Courts had the same idea and brought his own vintage cameras. Unagi!

We were right about to wrap things up when we got this glorious sunset. Straight out of camera, folks. Now that’s some sexy light.
Amanda contacted me a week before she & Shawn were leaving for Vegas to get married for some engagement portraits. Unfortunately, the totally uncooperative February weather precluded us from shooting them before they left. (Don’t worry this is my last post about how much the cold, rainy February sucked!)
We had to wait a few weeks after their return, but we secured a perfectly sunny and wonderful March day for portraits! We met at my go-to meeting spot in Addison, and that is Greenz restaurant. (This is where I tell you how much I heart the people and food at Greenz. Because it’s true, I do.)
I hadn’t met Shawn before, but I was pretty intrigued. Amanda had said some wonderful things about this guy and suddenly I got this email out of the blue that they were getting married in Vegas. Imagine my surprise when I learned that I was one of the few who knew they were running off to Vegas to get hitched! Surprise, indeed. I mean, how many of us as brides actually considered throwing up our arms, screaming “screw it all” and running off to Vegas? I know I did. But Amanda & Shawn actually did it. Dem haz ballz.
And Shawn? Yeah, he’s ridiculously funny and charming – utterly perfect for the full-of-spunk and gorgeous Amanda.
Those shoes made me say rawr.
Well, hello Mrs Sassy.
Amanda brought inflatable dice. Of course.
They got married on February 25th in Vegas. Get it?
I started posing them with the dice and Vivian exclaims “that looks like Olan Mills!” So we added the fists to the chin to complete the look.
