I can’t believe we are talking about the holidays.

I’m going to call her out – because I can – Lauren emailed me about Holiday Portraits yesterday. Really? I’m still sticking to the leather in my car and blasting the A/C like it’s going out of style. But it really, really is September and the last chunk of the year is upon us. So I guess I really am talking about Holiday Portraits right now.

So do your stretching exercises because November has been designated the month for portraits and the month for portraits has been designed as November (little ode to Monty Python there).

More details will follow, as well as what this year’s backdrop will look like. It will probably be ridiculous, don’t you worry.

Edited to add: Apparently others were ready to start talking about Holiday Portraits too. I’ve booked 3 and this blog post has been up 2 and a half hours!

PS, Pets are welcome as long as they don’t try to eat my cats.

I heart the nom nom.

This past Sunday was an Open House for my boudoir photography studio and I started my appetizer search pretty early. I wanted some fun, chic stuff but I wanted it to be really easy too because I didn’t have a lot of time to refresh the trays during the event. I also didn’t want to worry about chaffing dishes and keeping things warm or cold.

For drinks, I kept it simple. Asti champagne & Bitch Bubbly (yes, you read that right and you can find it at Central Market) with a strawberry in each glass for a little twist:

Now on to the yummies. There was definitely a cheese tray. What’s a real party without a cheese tray?

I did make apricot cheese balls. Is there anything better than cheese on a apricot? Not really.

Stuffed new potatoes.

Endive filled with a mixture of pimento olives, cream cheese, onions, tobascco, chives and red peppers. YUM.

Tortellini skewers. These were the easiest to make, but also the most time consuming doing the actual spearing. I have TONS still in the fridge if anyone wants to come nom nom.

For dessert, I introduced something a lot of ladies hadn’t had since childhood: puppy chow! That went like hot cakes, as did the cake balls. Yeah, everyone loves cake balls.

And some seasonal fruit and berries. I could chop the heck out of some fruit and berries any day of the week.

What are your favorite appetizer recipes for parties?

When Manic Monday spills into Tuesday.

I’m pretty useless on Monday mornings. My brain is still wrapped up in the weekend past and I somehow slide through my day in a haze. I throw a party if I get anything real accomplished on a Monday. I didn’t throw a party yesterday. Or post on my blog, I know, I know. Take away my cookies.

I’ve got a few things cooking on the proverbial burner, including a second fundraising event for the Komen Race for the Cure. You may remember a few months ago we did ‘Headshots for the Cure‘? Well, I have teamed up with some amazing female photographers and we are going to offer ‘Provocative for Pink’ sessions on Sunday, September 19th at my studio in Valley Ranch.

The amazing photographers include:

Janelle | Engaged Studio

Stacey | Simple Moments Photography

Michelle | Michelle Peyronet Photography

Not only are they amazing as photographers (Yes, I’ve said it three times now, so you know I mean it), but they are just such wonderful people as well and teaming up with them is a dream come true.

So enough goo from my side, throw pink puffy hearts their way and you – you have a fabulous day today. I’ll be back tomorrow with pictures and more bloggy babble.

From Rasheesh.

I’m having a very declarative sentence kind of week. I guess I’m feeling very to the point this week.

So folks, the #1 reason all of you should have a friends like Rashee & Asheesh (Rasheesh!) -

I think the book is self-explanatory. The lotion – well, that’s from slathering Vaseline all over Rashee on the wedding. As Asheesh says “it was really hot to watch”.

The Producers.

I’ve seen the movie. I should have been prepared for the craziness. But yet I found myself watching “The Producers” at the Campus Theatre in Denton as if it was my first time. And I almost peed myself laughing, even if my laughs were always a few seconds behind the jokes (that’s what a camera in your face during a play does to your brain). My special preview of the play did not disappoint it was utterly irreverent and utterly hilarious. There are still a few shows remaining and I urge you to get off your tush and to go to one of them. Even if you’ve seen the movie. Even if you’re (fill in the blank after you’ve seen the show!)
