Holiday Decorating

I’m a minimalist. With funky taste. Why would my holiday decorations be any different?

The tree and my votive candle holder, now converted to a mini ornament holder.

The happy little Finnish guy. A friendly reminder from another time & another world when I was working freezing my arse off in Helsinki  & Oulu.

Jingle bells in grass. Logical.

My “ornamental” feather wreath. My friends and I have done several ornament exchanges this year and this is where my acquisitions have gone. Thank you Alissa & Amanda!

My newest Gnomie friend, thanks to Joana. I love the little sweater.

To get a good feel for the size of the tree, I have used my kitty “Littles” as a reference. Doesn’t she just look overjoyed!?

Here’s another smiling inhabitant, Biggie. This is his “stop taking pictures and feed me” stare.

This Gnomie is still enjoying a nice day in the sun with his drink of choice (does it look like windshield wiper fluid to anyone else?!). He’s a birthday present from Beth & James that has graced my countertops since September. He reminds me that I will be shooting in Mexico in April. MMM Mexico.

Wassabi??

As we approach January this is what is known as my downtime. I will be shooting less for the next month (not by choice – it’s just what happens when you are done with the Christmas portraits and the major fall wedding season) and getting ready for 2008. For me, getting ready for 2008, unfortunately, is going to involve going through the pile of paperwork that I have stacked in the corner. I’ve been avoiding it for a reason and luckily it hasn’t toppled yet, but it has acquired some dust bunnies.

Another mass blog update will be coming in the next couple of days – as you can see there are several entries that are waiting for pictures and my pearls of wisdom and insanity.

Tonight, I have my friends eagerly coming over to wrap my Christmas presents. I admit complete and utter defeat at the hands of wrapping paper, scissors and tape while they enjoy the process.

Keeli. Caught enjoying spaghetti …

<10> now accepting credit cards

This post will  be exciting to some people.

I am happy to now accept Visa/Mastercard, Amex, and Discover … well as long as I don’t accidentally walk off with your wallet beforehand.

Alicia & Paul’s Epics

I couldn’t help to think about all of the crazy adventures I had been on, as here I was making my second ever trip to Denton. I like uncharted terriroty and was amused when we became the day’s entertainment for Tom, the security guard at the courthouse. We made our way around the square and then found some back alley things that caught my attention. I watched Alicia and Paul carefully to see their reactions and they were all about the crazy places I was taking them.

In order of greatness (from lowest to highest), the following things caused me to squeal in delight:

… the snake painting on the side of the restaurant, the brick courtyard, the purple building, the abandoned trailer, the abandoned yard of “watch your step”, and the Christmas lights adorning the square…

Michelle & Justin’s Epics

Michelle and Justin tried to psych us out. They told us about how much they hated pictures and how goofy they were together. I didn’t want to break it to them, but I had heard it before. Vivian just smiled and went on her merry photographing way.

I had to admit how overly pleased I was at how cuddly they were in person- as in they cuddled each other and not me. So I just kept them busy and they kept themselves, well, cuddling.

So this all had a happy ending, even though I tried to steal Justin’s wallet the day of the pictures.

True Story.

Of the DOZENS of times that I have put my client’s wallets in my backpack during engagement pictures, this is first time that I went home with one.
